Obituary:
Mr. Charles Edward Butch Hammersley, 66 of Aldie, Virginia went to be with his lord and savior on Sunday, November 1, 2009, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Born Saturday, June 5, 1943 in Leesburg, Virginia, he was the son of the late Robert Hammersley and the late Sherwood Hoskins and Mildred McIntosh Hoskins.

Butch was a devoted life member of Little River Baptist Church in Aldie, VA. He served Pastor Jesse Parker and the church congregation as deacon and headed several of the churchs committees throughout the years.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, Butch retired in January 2009 after working nearly 30 years as an engineer with the government. Prior, he worked as a mechanic and engineer at the Wonderbread plant.

Dubbed the name Mr. Fix It by family and friends, Butch was very handy, had a big heart and was always willing to lend a hand. He loved to work on cars and could fix almost anything around the house.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice Hitt Hammersley of Aldie, VA; four daughters, Teresa Lea Corcoran of Montross, VA; Lisa Lynn Newsome, Tina Elife DuBose both of Fernandina Beach, FL; Jennifer Kay Roberts of Leesburg, VA; and a son James Christopher Hammersley of Gainesville, VA along with their spouses.

He is also survived by his sister, Sandra Kay McArtor of Pennsicola, FL; 16 grand children; 4 great-grandchildren; an uncle Richard McIntosh and several cousins and close family friends.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Sandra Marie Hammersley; his parents Robert Hammersley, Sherwood and Mildred Hoskins as well as countless aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA 20175.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2009 at Little River Baptist Church located at 40385 Braddock Rd. Aldie, 20105, with Pastor Dan Hough and Pastor Jesse Parker officiating.
Interment will be in Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas, VA.
