Major Mike McVeigh of the Leesburg Police Department contacted me one day as I was patrolling the Town of Leesburg on a motorcycle. I was told to go find this guy named Dick Kramer who was going to take photos of me and the motor and then he would come up with artwork based on the photos Dick took. That's the day I met Dick Kramer and I was better for it. Dick presented me with a copy of the finished product and I hurriedly un-rolled the artwork. I was a little concerned as I noticed this "mark" across the Harley-Davidson's white gas tank. I figured he made a mistake. "Hey Dick, what's this mark on my gas tank?" Dick explained that when he took the photo, the clutch handle cast a shadow over the gas tank. Dick said, "If it's on the photo, it'll be in my artwork." That's the kind of exactness I came to love about Dick Kramer's work - all his works were like that! The fact that he was a great artist is one thing but he was truly a great man. What's the old adage, "They don't make'em like that anymore?" Truly a huge supporter of the police and a great guy to just sit and talk with. I know where you are, Dick and hope to see you again.
