What can you say when someone asks
what do you remember most about
someone you’ll never forget?
How can you roll a lifetime of experiences
into a single expression?
Words alone cannot express the glory
and the magnitude of a good man’s life.
Feelings can better explain that connection,
that unbreakable love he felt for his family,
the smiles he brought to everyone’s faces,
his love of life, and his courageous persona
are wonderful memories, while at the same time
lead to a lingering ache when you think
did we do enough while he was with us?
Could we possibly have conveyed how much
he meant to us in our everyday lives?
And how much of an inspiration and a miracle
it was to have such a loving person to call our
grandfather and dad and husband?
Growing up, and knowing that he was there
changed the ways in which we embraced the world.
The choices we made, and the paths we took in life
were so influenced by having him as a role model.
We know that he thought the world of us,
and on this day, we want to surround him with
nothing but as much love as he brought into our lives.
Papa, you will always be in our hearts wherever our lives may take us.
Your spirit will guide us, and give us the strength and the wisdom
to know the right path, as you have so aptly shown us
in the steadfast guidance you so selflessly gave.

Uncle Frank,
You were always my favorite uncle, and a friend as well. I remember when you accompanied me on a Greyhound bus from Washington, DC, to spend the summer of 1942 at Grandma's house in Morgantown. You were in your Navy uniform. I have fond memories of your boundless energy and ever-present sense of humor. You were the patriarch of the Andy family, the rock among eight siblings. May you rest in peace.
