For Gene and his Sisters
--- from John and the Greenawalt family ---
On 19 June a year ago,
when I, in Russia far away,
was separated by the decades
more than longitude's degrees,
my old friend of tender yore,
lost his mother from this world,
and with his sisters must have sought
for comfort when is cannot come.
My brothers, two, have joined my parents,
like my friend’s, in Arlington.
Bitter is the message: death,
no less, in tardiness gets through.
And so, in internet sojourning,
I should find the sympathies
expressed to my old friend and sisters
on the passing of their Mom.
Courage to remember, fondly
pressing well deserved praise
to keep alive the love they gave us,
earning it-- our rest-of-days.
Helga and Patrick Burns send our deepest condolences to the family of our dearest friend Marlene! Helga on weekly bases for over forty years looked forward to conversations with Marlene that always included the latest Perry family activities. We shared wonderful luncheons at the Perry family home in Mount Vernon and many visits at Falcon’s Landing. We always felt like part of the family when we spent time with Marlene and Roland “Perry”. Helga and Marlene’s conversation would most always turn to recipes and quilting while Pat and Roland would reminisce about Air Force experiences.
Marlene will be in our prayers, memories and Love forever!
Some of my best memories are at my granny's. The evil eye on the steps, the dolls in the basket, the quilts which I still love quilts! The Christmas tree with the whistling remote, the natural
Sugar, the animalia book, the candle center piece in the dining room that would spin from the candles heat, the basement room with the washer and dryer that always had juice bags or boxes of us grand kids, can't forget the stash of goodies in the bar area by the office! Oh and the cups that looked like animals. I mostly remember how I felt with her when it comes to time spent. I was so young so my memory isn't too good but I always remember the happiness and love felt when I was with her. One of the most kind, loving and wonderful women I've been lucky enough to have as a grandmother. Memories of her form the foundation of my soul and ill never let her love go, ever. I even have my raggedy Ann and Andy dolls in my baby boys room waiting for him to be born :) he will know all about my wonderful granny. Seeing her for the last time felt amazing, granny I love you and rest in peace and say hello to grandpa for me! <3 Ashley - ALWAYS and FOREVER

My deepest condolences to the family. Losing a dear loved one can leave a very empty space in one's life. Please find strength, hope and comfort in the God of Comfort (1 Corinthians 1: 3,4).
