As a long time growing up neighbor of the Hannon family on Ablondi Road I was so saddened to hear of the terrible accident that took the life of Maryellen.
The Hannon house was always a lively fun one for me to spend time in and while Alyce & Dolores were closer in age I recall us always seeing MareEllen as the smart, well behaved, older sister. From our Abondi Road block parties, to the trips to Laurel Lake and Mr. Hannon taking us to the drive in movie theater we always had a so many laughs together.
I wish I could have been there in person to provide a hug or two but I can see how loved MaryEllen was and how she surrounded herself with beautiful people. My sympathy goes out to all the family and prayers for healing. The faith we all hold is a bit stronger because of MaryEllen.

I was searching both your names on Facebook to see if I could find a way to contact you and Mary Ellen and did not expect to find Mary Ellen's obituary. I am so sorry for you and your family. What a joy it was, though, to read what a full and beautiful life she lived and you lived together. And what a big family you have and they are there to support you. I wish I had reached out through Alyce or Mike, my parent's neighbors, to get in touch with you and see each other again.

Mary Ellen has been my treasured friend. We prayed with and for each other through all of our life's ups and downs, ins and outs, joys and heartaches. We knew each other's families and shared our love of being wives, mothers, Catholics, sisters-in-love and prayer partners. She led me to Jesus through Mary...ALWAYS! She was literally my guiding light of all devotions to our Blessed Mother. We watched our children grow, shared tea at Panera as often as possible, made a pilgrimage to Fatima together, volunteered together, shared a devotion to St. Theresa and survived my many moves back and forth from VA to Texas! Believe it or not, she actually helped me put furniture together after my latest move back to VA! There are no words to describe the blessing she has been to me. I will carry her in my heart with immense gratitude and I know she will continue to remind me to trust our Lord's providence, walk with the Blessed Mother, and love unsparingly! Love you, Mary Ellen.

Mary Ellen was one of those people who lit up the room with her presence , her very positive and joyful personality and her very giving nature. We called her “our recruiter” for the Signs of the Times Apostolate. She introduced many wonderful people to volunteer for us. She was a very caring person and took great joy in her family, her friends
and her church. Mary Ellen started several prayer groups and she had a great devotion to the 💕 two hearts, Jesus, the Divine Mercy and His Blessed Mother. We will miss her, but we believe she has reached her final reward and will be watching over her family, friends and loved ones.

To the Hannons and the Whitfields,
My heart is breaking for you and I am truly sorry for your loss. Growing up, I remember Mary Ellen as the voice of reason in the Hannon household and a practical, patient, and caring person to talk to when we needed advice. It sounds like she was even more comforting to her children and grandchildren and very special indeed. All who knew her will surely miss her and never forget the kindness she brought to so many. To Peter and family, though I did not have the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Mary Ellen, after reading about her life's work and joy she brought to all she encountered; I see why Peter has such a joyous smile about him. The world has lost a treasure and Heaven gained a jewel. She is forever smiling down on each of you and saying a prayer.
