I'm so very sorry to hear as are all of Rich's GCHS Class of 1975 classmates. He was such a nice, kind and gentle person. Deepest sympathy and condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
Total shock, disbelief and terrible sadness over the news of Rich’s passing. I worked with Rich for almost 20 years until my retirement in 2018. We both were part of the management team of the Investment Department at HHMI for most of that time. Rich was a consummate team player who always shared his unique insight into all things brought before the team including investment proposals, investment managers and asset allocation issues. Though he was a private person it was readily apparent how important his family was to him. My deepest condolences and sympathy to his family, especially his wife and children. May our Lord Jesus Christ give him a place of rest in His eternal Kingdom. May his memory be eternal.

On behalf of HS Management Partners, I wanted to extend our deepest condolences on the passing of Rich.
I knew Rich for nearly 40 years, and a relationship which began professionally became a personal friendship that I greatly cherished. My friend and partner David Altman knew Rich over many years as well.
Rich was one of the kindest people I've ever known. His love of family, his intellect, curiosity, compassion, integrity, and honesty were apparent from the first time I met Rich. He smiled easily and had a wonderful sense of humor. As I shared with my colleagues, being a gentleman came naturally to Rich, as he was a gentle man.
Rich's trust and confidence in HSMP was instrumental to our success, as HHMI was one of our earliest clients when we started our firm. Our ability to keep the lights on in those early days had much to do with Rich's willingness to give us a chance.
Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you, and know that Rich made the world a better place for all who had the pleasure and honor of knowing him.
