Col. Robert H. Lison

Robert (Bob) Henry Lison, a devoted husband, father, and proud veteran of the United States Air Force, passed away September 4, 2024. Son of Joseph and Marguerite (Doiron) Lison, Robert was born on May 19, 1939, and raised in Gardner, MA. He attended Phillips Academy and graduated from Gardner High School. He met his wife Suellen Wagner-Lison during those high school years in Gardner and they were married for 62 years. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT as a member of ROTC program. After graduation, he was commissioned by the USAF to their flight program and later received his Master of Science in Research and Development Systems Management from the University of Southern California. Robert began his distinguished career in the Air Force in January of 1962 where he served with honors, reaching the rank of Colonel. As part of this service, he received the Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, AF Organizational Excellence Award with one Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Award Ribbon with Five Oak Leaf Clusters, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, the AF Training Ribbon and the Legion of Merit. Robert worked on many projects during his time in service, but he was most proud of his work on the F-15 Eagle fighter aircraft program. He retired from the Air Force after 26 years of service and went on to work for Rockwell and ended his career at Boeing where he worked in the areas of Strategic Analysis and International Operations. He officially retired in 2009. Robert was a devoted husband and father. He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Suellen Wagner-Lison, and is survived by his sister Josette Doherty, son David (wife Jereda) Lison, daughter Deborah (husband Randy) Daly, daughter Dawn Lison, son Scott (wife Tammy) Lison, fourteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. His loved ones will always remember his love for an intensely competitive game of Canasta, all the unwavering commitment to the Boston (New England) sports teams, as well as breeding and showing their beloved Pembroke Welsh Corgis. He will be missed dearly but the memories of him will carry his legacy through family generations. The family will have a private celebration of life held at their cherished vacation spot on Sanibel Island, FL.
