Robert Sherlock Shippen passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at home with family in attendance, after battling terminal brain cancer for 16 months. Born on August 1, 1947, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the Read Obituary
My daughter Sarah, and Annie Shippen became best friends at GCS. I went to many sports events when they played together and Bob was always there. An amazingly versatile man with many interests and depth of knowledge. I send my love to the Shippen family. Mark Westervelt.
I met Bob at the U.S.EPA HQ - Office of Water. I really enjoyed working with Bob and getting to know him. He had a wonderful smile, jokes, and always willing to lend a hand in work projects and contribute his water quality science expertise. He was a strong steward and advocate for the environment despite the challenges that often arose at EPA to accomplish its mission. I will miss Bob very much and will be praying for him and his family.

I met Bob the first time at the sports fields in GCS - we were a brand new family to the upper school (1991)and he welcomed us with warmth and care. He attended many of the alumni activities and always had time to chat with a friendly smile. I am lucky to have known him.
