Stephen P. Ednie

Stephen (Steve) Paul Ednie, 57, of Leesburg, VA passed away peacefully on May 18, 2015. Devoted husband of Eileen (Ehret) Ednie and beloved father of Megan Ednie and Gregory Ednie; loving son of the late Ann Ednie and the late Lt. Col. Raymond Ednie; and son-in-law of Joe Ehret and the late Helen Ehret of Seaford, NY. Dear brother of Chris Ednie (Saralie) of Fair Haven, NJ, Gina Davis (Mark) of Richmond, VA, and Patti Parsons (Bobby) of Marshfield, MA. Much-loved brother-in-law of Linda Lauro (Pat), Kathy Vindigni (Joe), Mike Ehret (Cathy), Debbie Mirer (Andrew), Don Ehret (Tara), and Joe Ehret (Lise), all of New York. Dearly-loved uncle and cousin to many. Good humored and friendly, Steve was well-loved for the way he could put people at ease, and for his kind heart, wit and intellect. Above all things, he was a devoted family man, who loved being with his wife and kids. Having come to fatherhood relatively late, Steve’s commitment to Megan and Gregory showed. In addition to helping them with school and activities, he took time to be a parent volunteer at their school on his day off to stay involved and set a good example. Steve’s other loves were sports, history, politics – and coffee! A life-long fan, Steve supported the Washington Redskins, win or lose, and he played many sports himself, from leagues for softball, volleyball, and basketball, to years of tennis and golf with friends. Steve was born in the Philippine Islands into an Air Force family and spent his early years in Austin, Texas before moving to Camp Springs, Maryland where he graduated from Crossland High School. He attended Frostburg State University and made his career in computer programming and database design, most recently working at the U.S. Department of Justice. He was an independent consultant living in Washington, DC when fate brought him to the New York City office of a client where he would meet the love of his life, Eileen. They married in 1996 and lived in Washington before raising their family in Leesburg. The family offers special thanks for the incredible support and acts of love that so many Leesburg friends have shown them over the past year. Family and friends visited at Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle SE, Leesburg, VA, on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 1:00PM on Friday, May 22, 2015 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 55 Oakcrest Manor Dr. NE, Leesburg, VA. Internment was at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church Cemetery.
