I moved to Vienna on 7/5/1963, met Steve in the first two weeks and became fast friends. By the time we went to James Madison, we were best friends. Two years at Madison and 2 years at Marshall playing Football and Basketball. What great memories. Steve was the fastest human on 2 feet that I knew. We moved on to VA Tech and had some fantastic late night adventures. I left school in 1970, got married, kids, but stayed in touch. 10 years later when my marriage fell apart, I knocked on his door at the farm and he took me in, no questions asked. That was Steve, he had a heart of gold. Over the years, we gradually lost touch, but he was never forgotten. Best friends forever. Hope you are working on that tree house for us. See you soon. My family met Steve's family at church in 1954 after moving to Virginia from Rhode Island. We became lifelong friends and have many memories. Some of my favorites were our summer vacations together at Ocean City, MD. Steve was the oldest of us kids and we all looked up to him. He was an exceptional man and a devoted family man. He will be deeply missed by all of us.

Steve and I first met on a basketball court when we were senior starting guards at Marshall and O’Connell high schools. I have a picture in my yearbook of us both fighting for a rebound. Steve was a tough and determined person in sports and life. Yet he was blessed with a soft and caring heart.
At Virginia Tech I became his brother at Pi Kappa. We had 4 great years in school and enjoyed the brotherhood life and we both graduated in spite of the time we spent playing sports and looking for attractive co-eds instead of going to class. Steve was a silent leader, never flashy but always willing to pitch in or initiate a fun event. He stayed close to a lot of brothers.
After Tech we went separate ways as I moved to New York and then Florida. When I learned that Steve was taking the big step of organizing a reunion and also building a web site about Pi Kappa and the brothers, I was impressed but not surprised – who else but Steve could do this, would take the time to make it happen and in a 1st class way.
Vickie, I did not meet you in person, but I know you are a special person because of the life partner you chose and he chose you. May your happy memories with Steve help you through these tough times.
Steve you are missed and your contribution to maintaining our Pi Kappa brotherhood will always be remembered and cherished. God bless you until we meet again. John Forch

We first met Steve on a moonlight ride in Oakton Virginia when he was managing Hunter Mill Stables. We then enrolled our daughter who was interested in learning to ride, in his riding classes. The riding experience was wonderful and we struck up a relationship with Steve which eventually blossomed into a working relationship. When Steve joined us, he immediately became an integral part of our company. The years we spent together made it evident Steve was a very competent contractor and businessman. We're certain he'll be remodeling heaven and wish to extend our deepest sympathies to his family.
