Theresa L. Griffith

Theresa Lynn Griffith, 44, of Herndon, Virginia passed away on January 29, 2020 after her courageous battle with cancer. Theresa—‘Reese’ to close family and friends—was born in Arlington, Virginia on October 29, 1975. She spent her early childhood days there before moving with her parents, Mike and Claire Griffith, to Sterling in 1984. She became active in Loudoun youth cheerleading and was a member of the International Order of Job’s Daughters where she served as Honored Queen in 1992. She graduated from Park View High School in 1993 and attended Washington Business School. She started her working years as a secretary at the Association of Manufacturing Technology where she helped coordinate trade shows for the industry. Most recently she was managing the office duties and apprenticing for a local plumbing and remodeling company owned by her longtime partner in life, Kirk Kennedy. Theresa loved animals, especially cats, and the tranquility of the beach. She enjoyed going to concerts and listening and dancing to music. Two of her favorites were Grateful Dead and Fleetwood Mac. Before her illness, she would enjoy going out occasionally but was content to stay at home and do some creative cooking with Kirk. She would take walks and particularly enjoyed watching the antics of the wildlife in their wooded yard. Those left behind cherishing her memory are her loving mother, Claire Griffith of Ashburn; her best friend, Kirk Kennedy of Herndon; her sisters, Leanne Griffith and Carly Wright, and her brother-in-law Mike Wright, all of Ashburn; her grandfather, Tom Griffith of Fairfax; and her aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She is being held in the arms of the angels who predeceased her: her strong and devoted father, Mike Griffith; her beloved Nana and PopPop, Mary and Jack Alden; her Memaw, Elaine Griffith; and her uncle, John Griffith. Visitation will be at Loudoun Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, February 5 from 6:30-7:30 PM. A service of remembrance will follow at 7:30 PM.
