Carol Farmer

March 21, 1940 - April 9, 2019

Surrounded by her family, Carol Ann Eckert Farmer, age 79, passed away April 9, 2019 due to ovarian cancer. She is the much loved mother of Kevin Farmer and wife Tracy Andersen-Farmer; Brian Farmer and wife Gina DeCrisci-Farmer; Eric Farmer and wife Lisa Farmer; and Mark Farmer and wife Kristin Farmer. She is the cherished grandmother of Lauren Kirschler, Devon Glenn, Justin Farmer, Nicholas Farmer, Serena Farmer, Ethan Farmer, Daniel Farmer, and Michael Dority. She is the great-grandmother of Jackson McIntosh. She was preceded in death by her brother Paul Eckert of Sacramento and her parents. Carol was born to David E. Eckert and Mary Louise Eckert March 21, 1940, in Delta, Colorado. She graduated as the valedictorian from Cedaredge High School in Cedaredge Colorado in 1958. She attended the University of Colorado. Carol married Michael Joe Farmer, in 1958, and moved to Virginia. After Mike was hired by the Central Intelligence Agency in 1960, Carol and family began a series of overseas assignments living in Panama, Mexico, Bolivia, Honduras, as well as an assignment in Miami, Florida. Between assignments Carol and family lived in Sterling, Virginia. In Sterling, she was very active in the local bowling league, an active seamstress, and a tennis player. Mike and Carol divorced in 1992. Over the years, she worked for a variety of employers including the CIA and the University of Miami. She especially enjoyed her last job as a graphic artist working for HydroGeoLogic in Herndon, Virginia. She was an avid photographer and a founding member of the camera club at the Senior Center at Cascades. She attended every sporting, Scout, music performance, and significant event of her grandchildren. She was active in service to others spending years delivering food for the Cascades Senior Center. At her passing, her grandchildren remembered her as kind hearted, selfless and one of a kind. Through visits and phone calls, they rallied with her until the end. A time of remembrance will be held Saturday, April 27, 2-5 pm at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, S.E. Leesburg, Virginia, 20175. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends and family consider donations to the Inova Schar Cancer Institute, Inovacancer.org/donate.
