Coralyn White McGeehan

May 10, 1933 - January 12, 2022

Coralyn Leavitt White was born Wednesday, May 10, 1933 to the late Margaret and Lewis White of Portsmouth, Virginia. There she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, and went on to attend Mary Washington College. After earning her bachelors' degree from Mary Washington in 1955, she came to Washington, DC, where she would earn her Masters' degree in teaching from George Washington University. She would become one of the original 20 teachers at Pine Spring Elementary, in a rapidly growing Fairfax county. She married Charles Robert (Bob) McGeehan on August 17, 1957. They started their family in Annandale, moving to Arlington, Virginia in the 1970's. Coralyn was a proud docent at Arlington House for nearly a decade and went on to become a guide with the Washington Guide Service. Through guiding tours for thousands of individuals from around the world, including her three granddaughters, she was able to share her passion for history and teaching. Coralyn and Bob were members of Washington Golf and Country Club and Christ Church of Alexandria. During much of her time in the area, Coralyn maintained her role as a member of the Junior League of Northern Virginia. Together, they were best friends, parents, grandparents, and in most recent years, Coralyn relished in her position as a great grandmother. Coralyn Leavitt White McGeehan passed away peacefully and surrounded by family, of natural causes on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 in Loudoun County, Virginia. Private services will be held. She was preceded in death by her husband, and her brother, Lewis Southall White, Jr. and survived by her loving family. Her daughters, Clare Holter of Boyce, VA, Susan Williams of Purcellville, VA ; granddaughters Kathryn Reid, Coralyn Miehm and Caroline Williams, and her two great grandchildren. She was the essence of all that is bright and good in this world and will be missed dearly by all that knew her.
