Irwin Dubinsky

Irwin (Irv) Dubinsky, 80 years old, passed away peacefully at his home in Hillsboro, Virginia on June 24th, 2021. He leaves behind his wife of 31 years, D. Robin Gerhart, his son, Andrew Dubinsky, 42, two grandchildren, Henry, age 10 and Luke, age 8, his brothers, Aaron and Bernard, sister Roslyn Feinstein, many nieces and nephews, and a multitude of lifelong friends and colleagues from his many walks in life. Irv attended Queens College after which he joined the Peace Corps where he served in Colombia, South America. He obtained a PhD in International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. He had a rich and varied career, beginning as a faculty member at George Washington University in Washington, DC. He later worked as a senior policy analyst for the federal government, first in renewable energy in the Department of Energy and then in food safety at the USDA. He changed careers in 1986 after receiving an MSW in clinical social work, going on to practice psychotherapy. He later served as president of the Greater Washington Society for Clinical Social work and as Research Director at the Clinical Social Work Institute in Washington DC. Throughout his long illness, Irwin was an active member of the MPN research foundation where he found support and cutting edge information about treatment.
