Kenneth Alan Durrin, 94, died on March 6 at his home in Ashburn, Virginia. He was born on May 21, 1927 in Cambridge, New York to the late Kenneth Allan Durrin and Dorothy Priscilla Allen. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served during World War II. When the war ended, he attended Hartwick College where he met his bride, Barbara Louise MacEwan. Subsequently, he graduated from Albany Law School, Union University. Ken had a distinguished career in Federal government service. After working in New York State for the United States Civil Service Commission, he accepted a job with the Federal government in Washington DC and served in numerous drug regulatory agencies. He retired as Director of the Office of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs, Drug Enforcement Administration. Ken was a longtime member of the Association of Federal Narcotics Agents (AFNA). After his Federal government service, Ken enjoyed a successful career as a consultant and auditor for the pharmaceutical drug industry. Ken’s greatest joy in life was his family. Favorite hobbies included spending time with his wife, enjoying movies and sharing popcorn with his daughters and grandchildren, reading, and watching sports. He exhibited a generous spirit with little fanfare and left a legacy of love to his family and unlimited educational opportunities to his grandchildren. Besides his wife of 69 years, Barbara (MacEwan) Durrin, survivors include his daughters Beth (Bruce) Walker, Susan (Frank) Shumaker, grandchildren Lauren (Aprotim) Sanyal, Melissa (Ben) Maxwell, Corinne (Derek) Knight, Colleen Shumaker, Frank (Jessica) Shumaker, Peter (Emily) Shumaker, Amanda (Jordan) Maddy, Shelby Shumaker, sisters Patricia (David) Davis, Linda Durrin, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his brother Richard Durrin.
