Murty Narasimha Hari

September 17, 1937 - March 26, 2022

Dr. Murty Narasimha Hari was a loving father and caring husband to Vijaya L. Hari and his three children Anil Hari, Kalpana Hari Hall, and Kishore Hari. He left this world on March 26, 2022 at the age of 84 years old. Dr. Hari was born at Vemavaram village in Guntur District. He received a B.Sc. degree at Hindu College, Guntur, an M.Sc. at Osmania University, Hyderabad, and a Metallurgical Engineering degree at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. In 1961, he was awarded prestigious scholarships to travel to the United States to complete graduate degrees at the University of Cincinnati, Illinois Institute of Technology, and Harvard Business School. Dr. Hari holds numerous patents and has won numerous awards for his work related to metallurgical engineering. In 1979, his patent regarding granular carbon processing was selected by the Industrial Research Council as one of the most significant new technical achievements. In 1987, Dr. Hari founded Superior Adsorbents Incorporated, a company specializing in activated carbon technology, based in Emlenton, PA. In recognition for his outstanding contributions to the field, he was inducted into the International Activated Carbon Industry Hall of Fame in 2011. Murty and Vijaya were devoted supporters of Sri Venkateswara Temple since its founding. He served on the executive committee, was elected as chairman of the board multiple times, and guided the temple recently as a trustee. Last rites services will be held at Loudoun Funeral Chapel in Leesburg, VA on Wednesday, March 30th at 1 PM ET.
