On the evening of December 23, 2021, Dana "Dani" Futrell passed away at the age of 76 after a courageous battle with cancer, comforted by her husband of 52 years, Guy, at Inova Loudoun Hospital. Dani was born in the town of Cross Read Obituary
We have been fortunate to tailgate at Virginia Tech football games for more than 15 years with Guy and Dani and have traveled with them on several European river cruises. Future games and travel will not be the same without her presence. Dani was one of the most up-lifting persons anyone could have ever known. A very trusted friend and someone who could put a smile on you face and laughter and love in your heart. We will truly miss you.

Diana and Stan Pedersen became life long friends with Dani and Guy back in the 80s in California. We continued when we all moved to Houston a decade later and built houses in the same neighborhood. Typical of Bechtel, 5 years later new assignments came along and Dani and Guy went east while we were sent west. Over the years we shared lots of good dinning, a few glasses of wine, and most importantly a great friendship. This picture is the last time we were together in Las Vegas, 2015.
Dave and Ellen Nelson have many fun memories of Guy and Dani. We were fortunate enough to take a few vacations with them including a very memorable trip to Antiqua where we sailed on a three masted schooner, sang "Amazing Grace" before we sailed away from every port, and then had to leave early to escape Hurricane Hugo. We will miss our classy, fun friend.
