Dana "Dani" Dix Futrell's Obituary
On the evening of December 23, 2021, Dana "Dani" Futrell passed away at the age of 76 after a courageous battle with cancer, comforted by her husband of 52 years, Guy, at Inova Loudoun Hospital.
Dani was born in the town of Cross Creek in North Carolina. She was the only child of Walter Everett Dix and Ruth McLemore Dix who have preceded her in death. She was raised in Hampton, VA and attended Christopher Newport University and the College of William and Mary.
It was at Christopher Newport University where Dani and Guy's love for each other blossomed. Guy would later attend Virginia Tech and that's where their love of the Hokies started and continues to this day.
Due to Guy's work, they moved several times but developed a love of traveling. While in California, Dani started out as a Santa's helper at Bullock's but was quickly promoted to buyer and then department head for Macy's.
Dani was very artistic and loved the art deco style. Dani was a kind and loving person who touched many lives. Traveling the world with Guy was one of her passions and Europe was a favorite destination of hers.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Loudoun Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will follow at the funeral home at 2 pm on Thursday.
Inurnment will follow at a later date at Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Loudoun Hunger Relief.
