I am deeply sorry to hear this news so late, and I apologize for my delayed post. I only recently learned of this while reconnecting with a friend after several years, and it was a complete shock. My heart goes out to Jason’s family during this difficult time.

I knew Jason through middle school, high school, and early college. He was one of the most genuine people I ever met, and he had a way of making everyone laugh. If you knew our group of friends, you know there were many characters, but in my eyes, Jason was at the top of that list. I’ll always remember that smile everyone talks about.

Though we weren’t close, we were in the same social circle, and I’m grateful for the memories. To his family, I am so sorry for your loss. Just know that every time his name comes up, it will always be followed by a smile and a great story.

I'm unconscionably late posting this and that's because my heart is broken. My best friend is gone. Growing up Erik and Jason were and still are brothers to me. I idolized " my boys" as I called them, so much so that when I was given a locket as a child the people I put inside were Erik and Jason. Jason was so instrumental in forming the fabric of who I am today. Everything I know as cool came from Jason. As a kid, Jason loved wrestling so did I, thundercats check, star wars, yup again and as we grew older I loved 90s hip hop, Dave Matthews and other music because of Jason. I loved the sports teams Jason loved and even followed in his fashion footsteps when the sporty backwards newsboy caps were the thing. I cheered him on at little league games and when I visited I gave anything for cousin time. Jason would do anything for anyone, including take me to my senior prom and turn down two popular girls when they asked him to dance, telling them he was "with me". I think besides my wedding that was the happiest, coolest moment of my life. When you were with Jason, you felt like the coolest person in the world. Thank you for all the hugs. For teaching me about good beers (the piney-er the better), thank you for conducting a bourbon tasting for me so I could decide how I liked it (one ice cube). Thank you for letting me go golfing with you and Erik that one time when I drove the golf cart into the lake (almost). Thank you for being there if I was ever sad about anything or needed advice. Thank you for all the laughter, the times you come in my room when I was at the house at thanksgiving/ christmas and we'd talk until late at night when we were supposed to be asleep. Thank you for steamrollers and for being the person I most wanted to be when I grew up when I was younger. Please know that I will be that for Kailey and Logan. They can call me or text whenever. I'll make sure they know what you thought was cool and considered good beer ( when they are 21) and I'll celebrate their successes and be their support when they need it. I'll do my best to be their person the way you were for me. I love you more than you know, always.

I have a million incredibly fond memories of Jason (Halvy) from 1st grade through middle school, through high school, roommates in college, beyond college and right up to February 2025. We had so much fun playing sports together as kids, being classmates, roommates, working together, golfing buddies, trips to Wildwood, college parties, and the list goes on and on and on. Later in life…conversation over the phone, breakfast, lunch, or a drink is how we often shared our lives. He was a very proud husband and father and we often bragged about our kids to each other in sports and academics. My heart goes out to the family.
He was so intelligent, funny, quick witted, caring, and gave the best hugs. He was a loving friend and he was loved greatly by his numerous friends who are like his brothers. I’m proud to have called him a dear friend for 42 years. I’m not the only one as his friendship was infectious. He will be missed greatly. I will cherish his friendship and his memory for life.
His best gift was the gift of laughter that he always delivered so perfectly for me and others that were blessed to be part of his life. He dealt uncontainable joy his entire life. Even after his passing, I STILL laugh when I remember our times together and our conversations. That’s the true gift…joy & laughter…that’s the gift to us that he continues to deliver. He is a legend for many of us and will remain so.

The sadness of our family is palpable. My God son was so much fun from a very young age. He reminded me of his grandfather, great warm hugs, a lover of sports, especially baseball and golf and most important a great husband, dad, son, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He will be sorely missed. 💔
