Please accept my deepest condolences. I first met Kurt in 1991 in Harare, Zimbabwe, working on the Electricity Sub-Committee of the then SADCC. It must have been soon after he joined the WB. We became colleagues in 1998 when I joined the WB and he was a great help with my settling in DC. A brilliant Engineer whose actions spoke louder than his words. The type we miss very much in our institution these days; and simply a great human being I respected immensely. Sorry I couldn't make it.

What a big loss for all of us! Kurt has been so wonderful to work with, and was always full of guidance and advice. Before he stopped working at the Bank, he helped us with a microhydropower plant in Liberia, which will bring power to a poor rural community for decades to come.
