Kurt Schenk's Obituary
Mr. Kurt Schenk, age 69 of Leesburg, VA passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2011.
Kurt was born on Saturday, October 18, 1941 in Bogota, Columbia. He was a son of the late Max Schenk and the late Elvira Ramirez de Schenk.
He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Colorado. He was a Professor of E.E. for 12 years at the University of Ottawa located in Ottawa, Ontario Canada. He was a Diplomat with the United Nations in Vienna, Austria for nearly eight years and was later employed by the World Bank as a Senior Power Engineer in the East Asia Region until he retired. After retirement he continued as a consultant in the Energy Unit in Africa Region.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Patricia Schenk of Leesburg, VA; his sons, Kurt Eric Schenk of Charlotte, NC and Hans P. Schenk of Lovettsville, VA; his brother, Fritz Schenk of Fountain Valley, CA.
The family will receive guests from 10 to 11 am on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Loudoun Funeral Chapel located at 158 Catoctin Circle, SE Leesburg, Virginia 20175. The funeral ceremony will begin at 11am. Interment will follow in Leesburg Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
