Laura M. McDaniel aka Mrs. Robert F. McDaniel as she was known by those she met, was a devoted wife, an experienced professional RN (Registered Nurse ), a creative artist, an avid reader of “books on tape”, and very religious --a “True Believer / Christian”. As a past president of her children’s PTA and later as a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, she demonstrated how to lead by example for her children. Laura was also known as Laura Mae to her close friends and siblings. She was a devoted wife and an omnipotent parent; and as such, contributed equally in providing a secure, comfortable and caring home for their family that was immersed in both love and laughter. When I was young, it seemed like she always knew when I was sick and could always make the worst “boo-boos” feel better. Both she and Dad were unconditionally very proud of all of their children. They always had words of compassion, encouragement , never judging and yet never hesitated to let the world know about their children’s and grand children’s accomplishments. Through the years, all I had to do was think about her and she would be “in-touch”. More recently thanks to technology, she would simply give me a call with her cell phone , which was her “Life Line” to her family! Now both she and Dad are watching over all of their children and children’s-children. Although I will miss her and mourn her absence in my life, I rejoice in remembering that it was truly a blessing that all of her children and grand children were able to visit with her recently and like Pam on her long trip back to Calif., we must all be comforted in the knowledge that we will forever be traveling with our loved ones. As her child I have learned so much !! To me Laura Mae Dyke McDaniel wasn’t just anybody— she was MY Mother !! I am proud and privileged to call her simply “MOM” forever. I will always Love You !##imported-begin##Arthur McDaniel##imported-end##
