Laura McDaniel's Obituary
LAURA MAE DYKE McDANIEL, 84, of Ashburn, Virginia, died on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, in Leesburg, Virginia. Mrs. McDaniel was born May 25, 1925 in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee to the late George W. R. Dyke and Mary Randilla Lloyd Dyke. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Franklin McDaniel, and preceded in death by grandson Robert McDaniel and seven siblings. Mrs. McDaniel raised her family in Flagler Beach, Florida and was a Registered Nurse at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida for many years. She was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star and was the Worthy Matron of the Maple Chapter #218 in Longview, Washington. Mrs. McDaniel was a talented artist, avid reader and gardener. She will be remembered for her extraordinary qualities, her kindness, positive attitude, and love of family and friends. She moved to Ashburn in 2001 after living in New Mexico, Washington, Missouri, Tennessee, Florida, and California.
Mrs. McDaniel is survived by her five children: Thomas McDaniel (Karen) of Kansas City, MO, Arthur McDaniel of Cocoa Beach, FL, Bear McDaniel (Brenda) of Clarkston, WA, Pamela McDaniel (Ray) of Pleasant Hill, CA, Connie McDaniel Ward (Tim) of Ashburn; a sister: Marie Wood of Soddy, TN; five grandchildren: Kelly Dellinger of Maiden, NC; Krysia McDaniel of Orlando, FL; Kayla, Michelle and Lucas Ward of Ashburn, VA; one great granddaughter: Katie Dellinger of Maiden, NC and many other relatives and friends.
Services and Interment will be held privately.
