Dearest Richard, from the time I met you, I knew you were Matt's other brother. You were, and always will be, a much loved member of the Bowen family. Your generous and loving spirit, warmth, loyalty and humor will be missed by your friends and family. Jennifer and Brenna, we are sorry to be so far away. Our paths crossed briefly at Virginia Tech, but I still remember his infectious smile and laugh and words of encouragement to cheer one up, whether on the rugby pitch, dormitory, classroom, or elsewhere on campus. I remember him as a gifted athlete and a fierce competitor. He was a sincere and genuine man. I am so sorry to hear of his passing.
We knew Richard for a short time, his warm smile and good humor warmed up morning walks to the school bus with the kids. He welcomed our family to the neighborhood and quickly became a good friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jen and Brenna at this time. Ar dheas Dé go raibh a anam
Richard you were always good and kind to me from back in the days at Langley and onto VaTech. Although our paths have not crossed for years I will always admire your energetic, genuine, loving and caring spirit. You made a difference in many lives and I am grateful to have known you. Rest in Peace my friend, you will be missed.
Richard (and it was always that!) was a dear friend of my brother. I could recognize Richard"s laugh anywhere. Including in the Uptown Theatre, where I was on a date! 1977, at a screening of "Star Wars"( episode 4' but the first for us!), I heard the laugh, and looked over an to my right to the far aisle. Richard was laughing his head off! Joke was on my brother, but I will always remember that night with much fondness!

Richard, I'll miss you more than I can say, amigo. The joys and pains of high school, EYC, rugby, tennis, golf, and 45 flippin' years of mutual support and deep friendship through all that life has to offer. You've been a glue that bonded your family and innumerable friends together in good times and bad.
