My favorite memories of Papa always surround the holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter. Papa almost always led us prayer during these events, I fondly will remember the times we held each others hands and spend holidays together. Papa was always so enjoyable to be around. He was always genuinely interested in what you were doing, and he LOVED his family fiercely. Every time I saw Papa he was jovial and ready to take hugs from you. My final conversation with Papa was during Christmas 2022. The family was having dinner together, I asked Papa how he was doing. At this point we were aware of his prognosis. Instead of getting upset or solemn as many of us (myself included) would do, he contently and happily told me how happy he was to spend his time here with our family and to see everyone smiling. He cared for his family more than anyone I know. I know his kind and gentle spirit will live on through my beautiful aunts—his children—Susana and Marielena and my abuela—his wife—Angie. We will miss you so much down here Papa, say hello to my Dad for me.
