Charlie is my oldest friend of almost 59 years and I’ve known Allyn for almost 45 years since our college dating days when they met. We celebrated his love with Allyn when she came into his life and they celebrated the joy of Caroline and Katie when they were born and made them a family.
Allyn was the love of his life. Allyn was always there for him as he was for her. She was the elegant Asian gal for this handsome Nordic guy and they went everywhere together. Allyn was always in his heart and the light in his eyes. They were like peas and carrots – they just went together so well.
I followed them from an apartment to a house in Arlington to a house in McLean to their Townhouse in Leesburg thru the years. Allyn made the house a home for them. Family was very important to Allyn. She was the force of nature behind the scenes. She was a constant presence in the home and kitchen making wonderful dinners for the family and especially the deserts Charlie liked.
She tried alot of different activities thru the years including skiing at Seven Springs in Pa. once, with Charlie and me, She and I ended up tandem skiing down the hill terrified since we found that skiing wasn’t her strong suit. Even so, they traveled all over together exploring the world and their lives.
She was a friend, a sister, an aunt, a wife, a mother and grandmother
I wonder why do God takes the good ones when there are so many others more deserving. And she was one of the really good ones. She knew was that she was loved by all those around her. She will be missed by all that knew her. I hope that the memory of her love will serve to comfort you thru the years
