Amada Freyre's Obituary
Amada Freyre, 93, of Leesburg, VA and formerly of NY, passed on Friday, October 9, 2015 at INOVA Loudoun Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Leesburg.
Amada was born on September 13, 1922 in Cardenas, Cuba. One of eight children, she was the daughter of the late Joaquin and Antonia Padron. In 1946 she married her long time sweetheart Jose Freyre, a fervent admirer of the United States, who eventually brought his young family to New York in 1956.
For many years Amada worked as a sample maker in New York’s famous fashion industry, eventually becoming a pattern maker and generally always improving her considerable skills, all the while also working as a homemaker and raising her three children.
She was a member of Christ the Redeemer Roman Catholic Church and the Loudoun County Senior Center at Cascades where she made many, many friends that enlivened her later years and gave her great joy. A very social person, Amada loved the theater, laughter and sharing time with family and friends.
She leaves behind her family to cherish her memory, including her son, Jose A. Freyre and daughter-in-law Ada of Spain, her daughters, Mayra Engel of Old Bethpage, NY, and Vivian and son-in-law Criton Zoakos of Leesburg. She also leaves five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, Virginia. A prayer service will begin at 3:15 PM.
