Andrew George Fotinos' Obituary
Andrew George Fotinos, born July 24, 1954, in Norfolk, Virginia, passed away February 14, 2026.
He was the beloved son of Nickolas George Fotinos, United States Marine who honorably served his country with three combat tours in Vietnam and died while still on active duty, and his devoted mother, Clarice Fotinos, whose life was a shining example of selfless love and service to others. From them, Andrew inherited a deep sense of duty, compassion, and quiet resilience that defined his own remarkable journey.
He built a long and distinguished career in telecommunications, retiring in 2024 after many successful years with Verizon Communications. Yet it was in service to his community that Andrew’s true spirit shone brightest. Andrew (affectionately known as "Blue") was a Gold Life Member and former operational Technician who dedicated many years of service to Sterling Volunteer Fire Company. He also served for many years as a member of the Board of Directors, contributing his time, leadership, and commitment to the continued strength of this organization.
Whether racing to an emergency in the middle of the night or offering comfort to those in crisis, he gave of himself without hesitation, earning the profound respect and gratitude of his fellow volunteers, the families he helped, and the entire Loudoun community.
Andrew was a devoted father whose love for his children was steadfast and unwavering. He is survived by his daughter, Andrea Day Fotinos and granddaughter, Sophia Clarice Fotinos of Austin, Texas; his son, Nickolas Michael Fotinos of Marshall, Virginia; and his brother, Anthony Christopher Fotinos of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
A celebration of Andrew’s life will be held at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Loudoun County First Responders Foundation (https://www.lfrf.org) to benefit local first responders in need; to include the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System, the organization that so deeply reflected the man he was.
Andrew George Fotinos lived a life of purpose, integrity, and quiet heroism. He will be remembered not only for the fires he helped extinguish, but for the warmth and light he brought into the lives of everyone who knew him.
