Sad to see this. I remember fishing and running the mountain with Petey in the 70s. I wonder if he still had those binoculars I gave him for deer hunting. He was the most successful deer hunter I knew, he used the snowfalls to great advantage. Tom Weldon, California
We would glance over to Pettie's house when we drove by for his broad, warm smile and wave. He was a true friend to everybody. Pettie did various stone and brick projects for us, including laying flagstone over our concrete patio. Rest in Peace, we will miss seeing you fishing from our pond.

A man that will be missed by many and only 5 weeks ago he was in pursuit of another big buck on my farm as he had done for the past 15 years. My prayers for his family and only great memories of a special man known as Pettie.
Even years after he did a couple small jobs for me, I’d see him in 7-11 many mornings and his face would always light up, smile and we’d share a few words. I recall the first time he came to look at my rock wall, he pulled up and showed me a box of morels he had just picked from the mountain. Shocked and saddened. Pettie was one of the best people that I could hope to work on our property. He was so knowledgeable and capable working with stone. We loved everything he did for us and we had multiple projects over the years. I was never disappointed. I looked forward to having him around so we share stories and ideas. He also came over to “fish” turtles out of our pond. He will be greatly missed.
