Ann Haraburda's Obituary
Ann suddenly passed away June 8 at her home in Sterling. Ann was a native of Washington, DC, and a dedicated mother, grandmother, and friend. Ann was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, mother Elaine, father Peter, stepfather George, brothers Brian and Dennis, and sisters Suzanne, Maureen, and Lois. Ann was a dedicated mother to her children John Haraburda (wife Donica) and Catherine Schechter (husband Brian); and grandmother to her seven greatly loved grandchildren Ashley,Devin, Elizabeth, Evelyn, Emily, Abigail, and Gregory.
Ann is survived by sisters Nora, Elaine, Mary, and Rita; brothers George, John, James, and William; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and their spouses. Ann led an active life supporting the Catholic Church: serving and leading groups and activities at St James, Our Lady of Good Counsel, St Catherine of Sienna and Our Lady of Hope Catholic Churches, and the Diocese of Arlington; and her community: from the Knights of Columbus to the City of Falls Church to the Cascades community group in Sterling. Ann performed at Carter Barron Amphitheater, was an EKG technician at Providence Hospital, and a receptionist at Computer Sciences and the American Insurance Association. Then Ann retired to a life of spending time and sharing love with her family and friends. Ann loved music, especially attending the opera. She also loved traveling with her friends around the US, Canada, the Caribbean and Europe. Ann’s life is a celebration of faith, love, and service to her family and friends.
Friends may call on Monday, June 19, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Loudoun Funeral Chapel 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, Va.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Tuesday, June 20 at 10am at Our Lady of Hope 46639 Algonkian Parkway, Sterling, VA and burial to follow at St. John Catholic Church Cemetery.
