Anna Rita Apostol's Obituary
ANNA RITA APOSTOL, 90 of Sterling, Virginia, passed on the morning of Friday, April 18, 2025, at Sunrise Assisted Living of Countryside in Sterling, Virginia.
Born Friday, March 2, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter of the late Caroline and Joseph Bonaventura. She was the beloved wife of the late Stephen Apostol, Jr., who predeceased her in 2011, and by her daughter Carol Karagiorgis in 2010.
She leaves family to cherish her memory, including her son Stephen Apostol, III of Rockville, MD, two granddaughters, Kristina and Nicole Karagiorgis; brother-in-law George and Fran Apostol, and son-in-law Angelo and wife Sally Karagiorgis.
Anna’s bright spirit is remembered by everyone she met. Her cheerful personality, her wit, and her undeniable Brooklyn toughness. A self-appointed comedian, she had a sharp sense of humor and a heart just as strong. She loved her family and friends deeply, always keeping them close and connected. One of her greatest joys was bringing everyone together in Ocean City, Maryland, where she and her husband created lasting memories filled with laughter and crab feasts.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 21371 St. Theresa Lane, Ashburn, VA 20147. The family will receive friends for viewing prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
Interment will follow in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Herndon, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Anna’s memory to CSAAC (Community Services for Autistic Adults and Children). https://csaac.org/ (donation link at the bottom of the page)
