My thoughts and prayers are with David, Chris, Courtney and other family members. I met Audrey during our freshman year at NC State and came to know David, Chris, and Courtney over the years that Audrey and I stayed in contact. Chris and Courtney, you probably don't remember me but I use to come and visit your mom and dad during our young adult years. I came and visited some of the magnificent places that they lived while stationed at the Presidio, in Hawaii, I believe the last time that I saw Audrey was at your home in Virginia. I remember that we took in a day of museum sites in Washington, DC, and Chris referred to me as "the lady who likes to spend money..."
Even though we did not see or talk with each other very often, I considered Audrey one of my closet friends. I watched Chris and Courtney grow up through our annual Christmas card exchange...that of which I recently learned about Audrey's passing from David...
I cherish the times that Audrey and I shared running for hours across the NC State campus and surrounding areas, taking in Saturday morning all you could eat brunches at Meridith College after a long run, and singing Christmas Carols during our runs no matter what time of year...one of Audrey's requests...

Hello Dr. Belyea, I was shocked and saddened to learn of what seems like an untimely loss of your wife. Your office called to tell me you had a medical emergency to deal with, and would reschedule my December 7th appointment and when that didn't happen I called your office and was told about your wife, and found this notice. Please accept my profound condolences. You are great person, and one of the most human doctors I have had the pleasure to know. My deepest condolences to your family. I was blessed to know Audrey through Bible Study. She was a wonderful woman, had so much insight and added heartfelt contributions to our conversations. Audrey was so hospitable! She hosted luncheons for our group, and brought cookies and other treats to our meetings.

Our hearts are breaking for David, Chris and Courtney with the news of Audrey's passing. Our son Drew, and Audrey and David's son Chris, were the best of friends in high school and their strong friendship continues today. It is through their friendship that we got to witness what an incredible mother Audrey was. I am impressed to this day that Chris and his sister were raised without ever having a TV in their house! I'm sure that has something to do with Chris being so bright, curious, courteous and fun--bravo Audrey! I can tell that her legacy of devotion to family and the Lord lives on in Chris as he and Loni start their family.
We pray that your precious family memories bring you some comfort during this difficult time and that the Lord will ease your sorrow.

I have many fond childhood memories of holidays spent with Audrey and her sisters and other cousins at our grandparents’ home in Maine. Eric and I were so pleased to have Audrey and David in our home for Thanksgiving a few years ago. Audrey and I enjoyed staying in regular email contact throughout the pandemic. She will be greatly missed.
