Awildia Lucille Wright's Obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of our beloved Mother, Nana, and Grandma Awildia Lucille Wright better known as our sweet loving “Sissy.”
Awildia Lucille Wright was born October 30th, 1953, to the late Edgar Milton and Awildia Eleanor Groves Wright.
Sissy was born and raised in Loudoun County. She moved to Banshee Reeks Farm, off Evergreen Mill Road in Leesburg at the age of three and remained there for many years also raising a family of her own there. She has always considered that place “home.” She has lived most recently in Stephens City with her daughter and family.
Sissy worked several jobs in data entry and customer service but her forever career was being a caregiver. She enjoyed cooking, canning, reading, and spending time with her kids and grandbabies.
Sissy left this earth peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, May 13th, 2023.
In addition to her beloved parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor and Sally Wright, three brothers, Carl, Samuel, and David Wright.
Sissy’s survivors are many and include her brother Daniel Wright (Ann) of WV. Her pride and joy children, a son, David Bates (Julie Duval) of Winchester, and a daughter, Tina Leach (Christopher) of Stephens City. She leaves behind her six adoring grandchildren, Sage Darden (Bailie Russell), Talynn Leach, Jadynn Leach, Montana Bates, Jacob Leach, and Mason Leach and her first great grandson, Brooks Russell.
Sissy touched the hearts of many, and she will be missed beyond measure. We are at peace knowing that she is with the Lord and reunited again with all her family and friends that she so deeply mourned.
The family will welcome visitors at Loudoun Funeral Chapel in Leesburg on Friday, May 19th from 11-1 with a funeral service directly after at 1:00. Sissy will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Blue Ridge Hospice in her honor.
