Barbara B. Davis' Obituary
Barbara B. Davis 87, of Ashburn, Virginia, went to be with our Lord and Savior September 24th, 2021, as a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and friend.
Born in Villa Rica, GA (1933) to loving parents, Alvin and Mary-Ellen Baxley.
Furthering her education, Barbara graduated from Mercer University with her undergrad and master’s degree in teaching. At this time, she also became a sister of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
Barbara pursued a career with Pan Am, as a flight attendant, where she found her joy of traveling the world. After her time with Pan Am, she became a teacher with Fairfax County Schools. During her time as a teacher of 30 years, she was named Teacher of the year (1984) and Staff of the month along with Jack Kent (1991). She was a member of the National Education Association and Virginia Education Association.
After her retirement, she and her partner Jack Kent found their passion traveling the world. They traveled to almost every continent. Together they had a true passion for meeting new people from all over the world and visiting the beauty of God’s creation.
Barbara is preceded by her parents, and her longtime partner and best friend Jack Kent. She is survived by her two sons, 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, family, and friends.
Barbara’s love for children and families in need was evident by her love for St. Jude’s Hospital. She gave generously to their cause. In lieu of flowers, we ask you honor Barbara’s life with a donation to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s.
