Barbara Jean Gourlay's Obituary
Barbara Jean Gourlay, beloved wife of Lawrence Gourlay Jr, passed away into Eternal Glory on Monday March 21st 2022 at age 65. Barbara went to St Casimirs in Lansing, Michigan. She graduated and got her BA in art at Central Michigan University. She worked with the National Park Service as a forest ranger, then worked at the Naval Research Lab and finally at the Air Force Graphics Department of the Pentagon. Everyone who came to know her remarked on the natural sweetness that she radiated. She also excelled at quilting and made several outstanding quilts for our veterans. She retired in 1994 to devote herself full time to faithfully serving her husband becoming the best he could be as a cofounder of the Media Research Center through 31 years of outstanding and devoted marriage.
She is survived by her husband Lawrence, her sister Nancy Colbert, her sister-in-law Nancy Colbert, nephews Mac and Jeff Colbert and her great nephew Lucas Colbert. She is predeceased by her brother James Colbert.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, Virginia .
A Mass for Christian burial will begin at 1:30pm on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church located at 101 Oak Crest Manor Drive Leesburg, Virginia 20176.
Interment will follow in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be sent to the Media Research Center .
