BARBARA LONG MERCHANT's Obituary
BARBARA L MERCHANT, 88 of Leesburg, Virginia passed on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.
Barbara was born Wednesday, July 4, 1934, in Washington, DC. She was the daughter of the late ROBERT and RUBY KERWIN LONG. Barbara was a lifelong resident of Leesburg.
She worked for the Loudoun County School Board, as a payroll manager, until retiring.
A very social lady, Barbara was famous for hosting her “Friday Night” get together and enjoyed being a part of the “Stitch n Bitch” group. She was a member of both the Leesburg United Methodist Church and the Leesburg Senior Center and traveled on over 50 senior bus trips over the years.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband HARRY MERCHANT in 1992.
She leaves her family to cherish her memory including her son, Steve Cross of Charles Town, WV, her daughter, Sharon (Jeff) Aldridge, of the Outer Banks, NC; three grandchildren, Taylor Ostlund, Brittany (Mike) Slaughter, and Case Aldridge and his fiancée Madeline Denton; great grandchildren, Weston, Odin, and Reese. She is also survived by many close friends including Sandy, Stella and Inez.
A Funeral service will be at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Loudoun Funeral Chapel located at 158 Catoctin Circle, SE Leesburg, Virginia 20175 with the Rev. Jim Wishmyer officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 am prior to the service.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
