Mrs. Barbara Hansen Warner, 75, of Ashburn, Virginia passed away on Monday, March 21, 2011, at the Inova Loudoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Leesburg, Virginia. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Born on Sunday, May 12, 1935 in Sacramento, California, she was the daughter of the late Jack Donald Hansen and the late Dorothy Gibbons Hansen.
Barbara was an avid reader, had a passion for education, and a lifelong fascination with politics.
A founding resident of Foster City, Mrs. Warner was a teacher for nearly 30 years at Abbott Middle School in San Mateo, CA, teaching mostly seventh and eighth graders. In particular, she was very proud of the reading program she developed and taught for many of those years.
She was also proud to be the wife of Richard B. Warner for nearly 50 years.
The Warners relocated to Ashburn in July 2003 to be close to their only child, Robin, and son-in-law, Patrick Mooney, of South Riding, VA. Barbara greatly enjoyed her friends and neighbors in the neighborhood of Inverrary at Belmont Country Club.
Barbara also leaves a brother and sister-in-law to cherish her memory, Jack and Cindy Hansen of Red Bluff, CA. She also leaves a beloved friend for over 55 years, Jill Goodman of San Mateo, CA.
Services and interment will be held on April 17th at 2 p.m. at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 43600 Russell Branch Parkway, Ashburn, VA 20147. The entrance to the church is best approached by taking Claiborne Parkway South from Route 7, and making a right on Russell Branch Parkway.
