Betsey Taliaferro Capraro's Obituary
Betsey Taliaferro Capraro died peacefully on September 18, 2009 in her home in Ashburn, Virginia. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 26, 1930 to Richard and Olive Taliaferro. She attended Saint Catherine’s in Richmond, VA and received a BA in Art History from Bryn Mawr College in PA where she enjoyed a year abroad studying in Florence, Italy. After college, she worked for the CIA in the Foreign Service Department. Stationed overseas, she met her husband, Michael C. Capraro. They were married on December 28, 1960 in Syria. They returned to the states where they raised their three children in Leesburg and Reston. Betsey worked for both Honeywell and Xerox Corporations in Northern Virginia. Following retirement, she volunteered at the Cascades Library. She enjoyed nature, reading and her pets and was a devoted mother, friend and neighbor. Betsey is survived by her three children, Maggie Johnston and husband Rob Johnston, Michael Capraro and wife Susan Musante and Lisa Capraro; and one granddaughter, Samantha Light. She is also survived by her brother Richard Taliaferro and his wife Norma of Alexandria, VA and Carter Taliaferro of Lutz, FL. Betsey will be inurned alongside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery with a service on October 19th at 2pm.
