Betty Odell Potterfield's Obituary
Mrs. Betty Jane (Odell) Potterfield passed away at home in the care of her loving family on Tuesday, August 12, 2015 at the age of 91. Betty was born on June 7, 1924 in Longacre, WV, the daughter of the late Robert Odell and the late Marie (Welch) Odell.
Betty and her beloved husband Harry were married for 59 years and lived in Vienna, VA, where they raised their only daughter Nancy Astorga. While living in Vienna, they faithfully attended Vienna Presbyterian Church.
Betty and Harry moved to Leesburg in 1979. A few years later, Betty retired from Columbia Gas, Dranesville, VA where she worked for 35 years. Betty remained active in Leesburg United Methodist Church, the LUMC Ladies Auxiliary and the Catherine Eye Bible Circle for many years. After her husband’s death in 2012, Betty moved to Vienna to live with her daughter and her family until her passing from advanced Alzheimer’s Disease.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Nancy Astorga and son in law Fernando Astorga and two grandchildren Alexis Astorga and Miguel Astorga, all of Vienna; her only remaining sibling Emmogene Craigo, 93, and many beloved nieces and nephews, and their family's.
Friends called on Monday, August 17, 2015 from 7 to 9 pm, at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA, 20175.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 11:00 am, at the funeral home with Reverend Charles Geshiere from Vienna Presbyterian Church.
Interment will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery, Hillsboro.
