Betty Reeves' Obituary
BETTY B. REEVES, 80, a resident of Leesburg, VA since the 1960’s, died on Monday January 8, 2007 in Leesburg.
Her four beloved children survive Mrs. Reeves: David E. Reeves of Chicago, Il, Dan Reeves of Waterford, VA, Rick Reeves of Chantilly, VA, Sheryl Martin of Hamilton, VA; one sister: Anna May Diller of Lampeter, PA; nine grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel 158 Catoctin Cr. SE Leesburg, VA on Thursday January 11, 2007 from 7-9pm. Funeral services will follow on Friday at the Leesburg United Methodist Church, 107 W. Market Street, Leesburg, VA at 11:00am. Interment will be in Leesburg Union Cemetery.
Mrs. Reeves was born in Lancaster, PA on June 27, 1926 to the late Titus and Fannie Mylin Burkholder. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years in 2003 Weldon Paul Reeves and one brother John Burkholder. Betty graduated from Elizabeth Town College and then Bridgewater College in 1951. She taught band and chorus at several public schools in the county and private piano lessons in her home until her retirement in 1986 after more than 20 years of teaching. Betty joined the Leesburg United Methodist Church in 1964 and became very active. She was the LUMC music director, directing three choirs and playing the church organ for many years. Betty co-started the hand bell choir in 1978 for LUMC and was a past president of the Beulah Johnston UMW Circle and was in charge of the Fall Festival at the church.
