Betty Mae Poland Smith's Obituary
Betty Mae Poland Smith, 86 of Ashburn, Virginia went home to be with her Lord on Friday, February 15, 2019.
Born Monday, March 7, 1932 in Ashburn, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Welby Poland and the late Viola Bowman Poland. Betty Mae graduated from Leesburg High School.
She was the wife of the late Ernest W. Smith, Jr., mother of the late Rodney Alan Smith and sister of the late L.G. Poland.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother “Nanny”, she was known by many as a school bus driver for Loudoun County Public Schools for nearly twenty years.
In recent years, she was a member of the "Gotta Dance" Group, Red Hatters, and enjoyed playing Bridge and Bunco on a regular basis. Betty was a devoted member of Sterling United Methodist Church.
She leaves her family to cherish her memory including her sons, Gordon Ray Smith and daughter in law Connie of Lovettsville, VA and Michael Dwayne Smith and daughter in law Lisa of Leesburg, VA; sisters Peggy and Vickie, brother, Charles, five grandchildren, Aaron, Jeremy, Crystal, Andrew, and Shannon, and 4 great grandchildren, Adelyn, Kollete, Nathan, and Leah.
The family will receive friends from 11 to 12, on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019 at Loudoun Funeral Chapel located at 158 Catoctin Circle, SE Leesburg, Virginia 20175.
Funeral services will follow the viewing and begin at 12 noon, with the Pastor Steve Vineyard officiating
Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
