BEVERLY ANN MCCRAY's Obituary
Beverly Ann McCray, affectionately known as “Bev” or “Aunt B” passed away on August 5, 2024, in her recent home of Brambleton, Virginia. Born to George Washington Jr., and Arleaner Washington on July 6, 1950, in Gulfport, Mississippi. She was a beacon of light to her friends and family that she dearly loved.
Beverly's journey began in Gulfport Mississippi, where she grew up with her brothers and sisters: Connie, Audrey, Dinah, Kemp, and Graylin. Her childhood was filled with love and the simple joys of life, which laid the foundation for her nurturing spirit.
In 1970, she married the love of her life Will McCray, marking the beginning of a life filled with hardships, joy, love, and devotion. Together, they raised their remarkable daughter Kimberly, who was Beverly's pride and joy. Four days before her passing, on August 1, 2024, she celebrated 54 years of marriage.
A graduate of North Gulfport High School in 1968. She found her passion in serving others. For 20 years, she worked in the mental health care field, serving as a supervisor and coordinator at Fort Worth State School.
Beverly's life outside work was rich with hobbies. She enjoyed cooking, working in her yard, being involved with many church activities, and spending time with her family and friends. Beverly enjoyed praying, reading the bible daily, and singing gospel songs. Her love and laughter were a bright light to those who knew her. She was loving and kind and will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Washington Jr. of Gulfport, Mississippi, and sister Connie Fannin of Fort Worth Texas, and her brother Graylin Washington of Gulfport, Mississippi.
Beverly was a loving daughter, sister, mother and aunt. She is survived by her mother Arleaner Washington of Gulfport, Mississippi, two sisters and one brother; Audrey Simon of Fort Worth, Texas; Dinah (Arthur) McCann of Gulfport, Mississippi and Kemp (Taffany) Washington of Gulfport, Mississippi. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, each of whom held a very special place in her heart.
Beverly Ann McCray’s legacy lives on in her husband Will, and her daughter Kimberly (Anthony) of Brambleton, VA.
Her memory will be cherished in our hearts forever. She will be truly missed.
