Blanche G. Gaither's Obituary
Blanche Goodman Gaither of Winchester, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Thursday February 2, 2012 at the Winchester Medical Center. Blanche was born March 11, 1934 in Suffolk, VA to the late Mary and Dread Goodman. She was one of seven children. Blanche completed her education in Suffolk, VA and graduated from East Suffolk High School. In 1960 Blanche was united in holy matrimony to the late Robert S. Gaither Sr. (he preceded her in death on Wednesday February 2, 2005); from that union they were blessed with five children.
At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined New Piney Wood Chapel Baptist Church in Drum Hill N.C. After the family relocated to Virginia, she attended Mt Carmel Baptist Church. Later she joined Zion Baptist Church in Berryville where she was an active member until poor health prevented her from attending.
Blanche leaves to mourn their loss: three sons, Robert S. Gaither Jr. of Winchester, VA, Gary L. Gaither (Karen) of Leesburg, VA and John K. Gaither (Laura) of Stephen City, VA one daughter, Teresha R. Gaither of Winchester, VA. Blanche was predeceased by her oldest daughter Darlene V. Gaither. She also leaves to mourn, four sisters; Frances Perkins of Suffolk, VA; Mary Ford of Landover, MD. Shirley Smith of Gates, N.C. and Jean Knight of Suffolk, VA; two brothers Walter H. Goodman (Mavis) and Raymond Goodman both of Suffolk, VA; one aunt Rosalie Watford of Brooklyn, NY; eleven grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
The family will receive friends on Tuesday February 7, 2012 from 7:00 – 8:30 pm at Zion Baptist Church Berryville, VA.
The Home going Service will be at Zion Baptist Church Berryville, VA on February 8, 2012 at 11:00 am with the interment at Mount Hebron Cemetery. Winchester, VA. Anyone who wishes to make a donation in Blanche's memory, is welcome to make it to Zion Baptist Church.
