I first met Mr. Auger on a construction site in Reston VA back in 1985. I was working for a subcontractor on a commerical building being built by Centennial Construction Inc., (CCI). During an on site construction meeting which was being conducted by the site superintendent, Mr, Auger, then VP of construction for CCI asked if any of the attendees were veterans of the Marine Corp. I was the only attendee to be able to answer his question, telling him I wasn’t a Marine, but an equally proud veteran of the United States Air Force. With good natured ribbing he stated and as only a proud Marine could, that an Air Force veteran wasn’t a Marine veteran. I respectfully assured him that this Air Force veteran WAS! In the following weeks and months as construction continue on the building, Mr. Auger always made it a point to find me on the site and inquire of my military and construction experiences. In short time he offered me a position with CCI as an assistant constuction manager. At first I questioned his offer, stating that I had never worked in an office environment before, he assured me that being the proud Air Force veteran I earlier said I was, I could and would certainly learn the job! Thank you Bruce. You will be missed and thought of often.
