"Bud" Roscoe Alexander Pickens' Obituary
Roscoe Alexander Pickens “Bud”, 84, a long time resident of Morrisville, PA died in Leesburg, VA Friday August 24. Bud was born on January 22, 1928 in Weehawken, NJ to the late Russell Austin and Doris Leet Pickens. His younger sister Lessel Pickens Davis predeceased him in 2008. Bud attended the Peddie School and Tufts University where he played football and studied engineering. He enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and served in the last weeks of the WWII in the Pacific, he finished out his service at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. He joined his father in the family business, Eastern Trailer and ran it until the early 1970’s. He then worked for Bowman Distribution until retiring. He moved to Leesburg in 2009 to be closer to family.
Bud is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years Ute Linda Pickens, four dear daughters and son-in-laws; Lynne and Dennis Portsmore of Midland Park, NJ, Karen Van Dyke and Wilbur Gahman of Montrose, CO, Donna and Dan Strode of Lorton, VA and Christine Van Dyke and Neeraj Nandurdikar of Reston, VA.. He was the loving grandfather to seven grandchildren; Merredith, Matthew, Victoria, Kaitlin, Taylor, Danielle and Arin; and great grandfather to Austin, Madelyn, Alexa and Connor. He will be missed by many.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 10 AM until the time of the memorial service at 11 AM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 605 West Market Street in Leesburg, VA Reverend Boughter officiating.
