A courageous man. He had the steel required of a warrior but was also kind and intelligent with a sense of humor. A gentleman. He lives on in my memory and will until we meet again in Heaven.##imported-begin##Philip##imported-end##
It was a pleasure to serve under Capt. Juarez . As a new sailor to the Navy and being only 18 he was like a father to a lot of us young sailors and him being a captian was like god to a lot of us. I had the honor to host a USS Montrose apa212 reunion in Philadelphia in 1999. We were pleased that the Capt and his wife were able to come for that. We had a good time chating about those days . I'm sure he will be missed by his familey and all who new him . There is an old saying may you always have fair winds and clam seas . Well now the seas are clam and the winds are gone. Rest in peace Captain.##imported-begin##Wayne Lamond ##imported-end##
Dear Juarez Family,
I am so saddened by the passing of Bob. He was a dear man, a real-life hero, a terrific friend, father, and grandfather to my Katie (Clifford).
I just wanted to say that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I was a 18 year old kid, first time away from home, still wet behind the ears when I came onboard USS Montrose. I remember Captain Juarez, my first Captain, he took our crew into war and brought us home safely. I remember a letter he sent my father praising me for accomplishments I made. My father had it framed and hung on his wall. In a way the Captain was a father to us kids. Godspeed Capatain until we meet again.##imported-begin##Russell H McDonald Sr.##imported-end##
I wore non-regulation gaberdines to a Captain's Inspection while Captain Juarez was aboard. He said I was the best dressed man on the ship. My Chief gave me a 72 hour pass. Our next Captain Davis said I was out of uniform; to get into Navy regs.. Of course, I thought Capt. Juarez had much better taste than Capt. Davis. Rest in Peace, Captain.##imported-begin##Thomas R. I am saddened by the passing of a wonderful man who embraced people, life and the activities that connect us all. I knew Bob through politics and his activities in Mantua where he "brought it in" year after year. Please accept my condolences and know that all who knew Bob knew a truly caring man.##imported-begin##Jane Woods##imported-end##
I was his CIC officer on the USS Montrose APA 212. He was a tough, demanding yet fair commanding officer and I learned a great deal from him. It was my pleasure to work for him. Also, he introduced me to a game he loved, golf.##imported-begin##Captain Richard E. Seaman, USN Retired##imported-end##
