In Remembrance Of
Carrie Doris Elaine Russ, affectionately known as “Doris” age 83, of Leesburg, Virginia departed this life at home on August 30, 2021, after a brief illness.
Doris was born October 9, 1937 in Ashburn, Virginia to the late Aubrey Allen Russ and Mildred Maria Nokes Russ. She received her education in the public schools of Loudoun County, Luther Jackson Middle School of Falls Church, Virginia, and Jennie Dean School of Manassas, Virginia. While she was attending Jennie Dean, she trained to be a Cosmetologist. Doris worked for the Wynkoop Nursing Home until it closed. Later, she went to work for ARAMARK for 28 years until she retired in 2002.
Doris accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She became a member of the Greater Zion Baptist Church in Ashburn, Virginia under the leadership of the late Rev. Boykins. After the family moved to Leesburg, Virginia, she became an active member of First Baptist Church Sycolin. Doris loved going to church, reading the Bible, and the Daily Word. On Sunday morning or afternoon, she would be so excited when Deacon Moore would come to pick her up, and her other close friends, the late Sister Lena Ambers and Sister Catherine Hughes, to take them to church. She also enjoyed attending different church services with her niece, Kiesha Robinson.
Doris leaves to cherish her memory two sisters: Ophelia Johnson of Sterling, Virginia; and Carolyn Ashton of Leesburg, Virginia. One brother, Steven Russ of Leesburg, Virginia. She leaves one nephew, Lynn (Susan) Ashton of Leesburg, Virginia and one niece, Kiesha (Ricky) Robinson, Jr. of Aldie, Virginia. Three great nephews: Tyrel Ashton of Leesburg Virginia; Zion Robinson and Zavier Robinson of Aldie, Virginia. One great niece, Zaria Robinson of Aldie, Virginia, and a host of cousins and friends.
Doris was a joy to her family and a delight to her friends. Her unforgettable laugh, infectious smile, and sweet spirit will be dearly missed. She will be loved and cherished forever.
