Catheran (Cassie) Calhoun Johnston, 87, of Leesburg, VA
Catheran passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at her beloved son’s home in Haymarket, VA.
Cassie was born on Monday, January 25, 1937, in Maryland. Catheran was the daughter of James Ashby Calhoun and Clare Elizabeth Brown Calhoun of Brunswick, MD.
Cassie moved to Lovettsville, VA after graduating high school. This move was the start of a long-time fixture of Loudoun County, VA. Cassie was more than a housewife. She slowly became a businesswoman. For over 30 years, she operated a thriving business as an antique dealer and decorator of early American design. Her shop located in Leesburg, VA. Cassie’s love for history led to many homes built in Loudoun, based off 1700’s Williamsburg design.
Cassie leaves her family to cherish her memory including her sons, Carter R. Johnston of Haymarket, VA Bartlett F. Johnston IV of Strasburg, VA, and her late son Roy (Bobby) L. George of Berryville, VA. She further leaves 3 granddaughters and 1 great grandson.
A funeral service to celebrate Catheran’s life will be held privately on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Loudoun Funeral Chapel located at 158 Catoctin Circle, SE Leesburg, VA 20175.
Interment will be held in Union Cemetery, in Leesburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Catheran Johnston’s memory to the Salvation Army of Loudoun, VA. Attn: Bonnie Inmann. 10 Cardinal Park Dr. S.E. Leesburg, VA 20175.
