Catherine Virts' Obituary
CATHERINE JOSEPHINE VIRTS, 85, life long resident of Lovettsville, VA, died on Monday, July 20th, 2009 in Leesburg, VA. Miss. Virts was born January 12, 1924 in Lovettsville to the late Elbert and Myrtle Riley Virts. Three brothers and a sister also predeceased her. Miss. Virts began to loose her sight during her late teens and was fully blind in her early 20’s. She participated in various activities for the blind including bowling with a local group from Hamilton. Miss. Virts enjoyed crocheting. She also made rugs on her loom and offered them at various craft shows including the Waterford Fair and the Lovettsville October Fest. Miss Virts was a life long member of the Potomac Valley Homemakers.
Miss. Virts is survived by her brother: Charles Clifford Virts of Brunswick, MD; five nephews, nine nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call at the Brown/ Loudoun Funeral Chapels, 34 East Broad Way in Lovettsville on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 from 7-9pm. Service will follow at 11:00am on Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Don Prange officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet United Methodist Cemetery, Lovettsville.
