Charles "Bud" W. VanGilder Jr.'s Obituary
Charles W. VanGilder, Jr., passed on to eternal life peacefully on February 22, 2015.
“Bud” was born on September 30, 1936 in Fairmont, WV to Charles and Sarah VanGilder. He is remembered by his family as a kind, caring and generous person who enjoyed making others smile.
A United States Army Veteran and FAA retiree, Bud also attended Fairmont State College where he was a member of the TBI fraternity and later graduated from West Virginia University.
Bud was a member of St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Church and a third degree charter member of the Holy Family Council of the Knights of Columbus. He worked with the former LARC and helped in the organization of the current Blossom and Bloom Thrift Shop. This was in part as a tribute to his beloved daughter, Johna Lee, who passed in 2005.
He is survived by the love of his life Mona Jean Urse, wife of 54 years; two sons Jeffrey Charles VanGilder, wife Katie and Bradley Charles VanGilder, wife Melissa; six grandchildren, Cassandra, Krista, Jeffrey Charles, Jr., Jordan, Taylor, Chaz; three great-grandchildren, Kourtlyn, Calvin, and Liliana; among numerous nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Loudoun Funeral Chapel.
A funeral mass was held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. John Catholic Church Cemetery.
